An Old Interview of Sumeet Sir ....

                                            SUMEET SIR INTERVIEW.

This is an old interview of Sumeet Sir when he had taken up the show"GHAR KI BAAT HAIN"

Excerpts from the Interview.

‘Ghar Ki Baat Hai’, the new light family comedyproduced by Red Chillies Idiot Box for NDTV Imagine, sees Sumeet Raghavan playing one of the lead roles. With Aziz Mirza as supervising creative director and Anant Mahadevan as director, the story revolves around hilarious situations in the lives of the Yagnik family. We caught up with Sumeet to get an insight into his role and the show.

Talking about the role…
I play Rajdeep Yagnik, who is a top executive in a multinational company. As far asprofessional life is concerned, he has constant arguments with one of his colleagues. In his personal life, he has a good wife but a brother-in-law who sits at his house and blows all his money. That is how the story goes with a lot of hilarious situations…it is a complete entertainer!

About how he bagged the part…
Sumeet Raghavan
I was offered the role but I was not too keen on it as I was already doing another comedy show. But that show went off the air and I could make time for this one. I was initially a little jaded about taking it up but now I feel all rejuvenated and reinvented after a break.

So what’s new about the show?
Everything! It is a fiction show and after a long time we are having a comedy sitcom on television. The director is also back after a long time. I am quite excited about this show because after ‘Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai’, I didn’t feel the kick about any other show. It is also a pleasure working with artistes like Swapnil Joshi and Ali Asgar. So everything seems good about the show.

The challenge…
It is comedy-based and everything should come out normal and natural. We are trying not to go ove
Sumeet Raghavanrboard. We want the show to be identifiable and make sure that people relate to the characters. Overall, we want to create something like ‘Sarabhai…’ did.

Preparation for the role…
Nothing exactly! Just that I don’t want to go overboard with my character and be conscious of the same.

Preferred genres…
I prefer comedy as it comes naturally to me and I am popular for being funny. Other than comedy, I prefer thrillers. Definitely no saas-bahu crap for me…that is not my cup of tea.

His take on comedy…
It is a very serious business and you have to be really good at it…you just can’t take it lightly.

In the pipeline…
As for television, it is only ‘Ghar Ki Baat Hai’. I am also doing an untitled film with Shifali andRahul Bose. Only these at the moment and nothing else!
